Molecular and genomic surveillance to support malaria control and elimination (ID Epi Seminar Series)

Dr. Cristian Koepfli has obtained his PhD at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute working on Plasmodium vivax epidemiology and population genetics. He then moved to the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Australia as a postdoc, where he worked closely with the Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research on malaria epidemiology projects. After a brief stay at the University of California Irvine, he started his lab at the University of Notre Dame in 2018. His work focusses on the use of molecular and genomic tools to to study P. falciparum and P. vivax epidemiology. He works closely with research institutions and malaria control programs in multiple African countries to support control and elimination efforts.
