White House Summit on Strengthening the Nation’s Early Warning System for Health Threats

This virtual summit will be hosted by the The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and feature Marc Lipsitch, speaking as Director for Science for the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics. Watch the recording here.

“The Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) is a new center established as a national resource at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CFA’s goal is to enable timely, effective decision-making to improve outbreak response using data, models, and analytics. The center will grow to support government and community leaders, with a focus on identifying and addressing the needs of our Nation’s most vulnerable communities. Analogous to a National Weather Service for infectious diseases, the center will also develop resources to provide insights about infectious disease events to the public. Planning for the CFA began in August 2021 with initial funding of $200 million from the American Rescue Plan.”
